The Power of Agreement

“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” ‭‭Amos‬ ‭3:3‬ (‭KJV‬‬)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Have you ever felt like you’re trying to run through mud in your journey with God? I know I have! I believe this happens when we haven’t broken demonic agreements we’ve made through disobedience. God wants every weight and sin removed (Hebrews 12:1) so that we can move forward freely! So, let’s talk about how we repent of and renounce those unholy agreements that are holding us back and weighing us down!

The Power of Agreement: Agreement is powerful. God knows it, and the devil knows it, too. In fact, one way to look at spiritual warfare is as a battle over your agreement. Who will you walk in agreement with, heaven or hell?

“Again I say unto you, ‘That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.’” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18:19‬ (‭KJV‬‬)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

You see, God wants to reveal His strength and power on your behalf! If we agree with God, nothing is impossible, so the enemy is always working to get you to agree with him instead. He works to draw you away from truth and righteousness, and into sin and defeat. Basically, he wants your worship! Look at this verse:

“The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk.” Revelation 9:20 (NKJV)

Here we see some important truths:

● Disobedience (including idolatry) brings us into an unholy agreement with demons.

● That agreement is powerful and binding.

● In order to break that agreement, we must repent and renounce the sin and the demons we partnered with through that sin.

In the verse above, the people “still did not repent of the work of their hands; they still did not stop worshipping demons”. They refused to break their unholy agreement with demons and were defeated. Defeat is not your destiny, friend! God has provided the power of the blood of Jesus and the dunamis power of the resurrection to give you everything you need to tread on all the power of the enemy.

“Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.” LUKE‬ ‭10:19‬ (‭AMP‬‬)‬‬‬‬‬‬

Are you ready to walk in victory and tread on Satan? It starts with repenting and renouncing, so let’s talk about it!

Repent Definition:

The repentance (metanoia) called for throughout the Bible is a summons to a personal, absolute, and ultimate unconditional surrender to God as Sovereign. Though it includes sorrow and regret, it is more than that. In repenting, one makes a complete change of direction (180° turn) toward God.

We must break demonic agreements through an “absolute and unconditional surrender to God” making “a complete change of direction” away from that sin and “toward God”. This is the path to freedom. But there is another important step to take…

Renounce Definition: To declare against; to reject or decline formally; to refuse to own or acknowledge as belonging to one; to disclaim; as, to renounce a title to land or to a throne. To cast off or reject deliberately; to disown; to dismiss; to forswear.

Wow! To renounce sin and the devil is to utterly forsake and reject deliberately. This is a powerful and forceful action. Renouncing is saying to the enemy, “Back off! Get behind me, Satan, you have no place in my life!”

A Dynamic Duo- When we repent and renounce, we free ourselves from the agreements we formed with hell through sin. To repent of and renounce sin and the devil is ground level spiritual warfare; these are the basics in our freedom arsenal. We need to be handy with these tools! For what partnership does light have with darkness?

“Do not be unequally bound together…For what partnership can righteousness have with lawlessness? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?…And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? …for ye are the temple of the living God…” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭6:14, 16‬ (‭KJV‬‬)‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

How about it? No more “slogging through mud” in our walk with God. Let’s put this dynamic duo into regular practice so that we can move forward with freedom!

Say this with me:

Father, I repent of and renounce all of my participation with Satan and all of his evil works. Lord, I break all agreements that I made with darkness through my sin, disobedience, and idolatry. In particular I repent of and renounce my sin of (speak out any sin currently operating in your life). Father, forgive me and cleanse me through the blood of Christ. I release the dunamis power of your Spirit into my body and soul now, to heal and fill me through and through. I declare my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and darkness has no legal place in me by the blood and the power of the resurrection. I decree I am excellent of soul, and I am walking in agreement with God and His word, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!

Now – keep that short prayer handy, and use it often! Amen?
